Waterblasting removes just the rubber and marking materials and leaves the asphalt where it belongs.
The mechanical dynamics of grinding and scarifying require that the road surface be removed down to the lowest level of paint penetration. These mechanical methods end up removing far more road surface than they do marking materials, though their clear intended purpose is to remove only the markings. The molecular structure of a needle sharp water jet however, can penetrate the smallest pores or largest grooves of asphalt or concrete, and extract the markings without removing the road surface or mechanically abrading it.

On runway rubber removal applications, it is frequently argued that chemicals coupled with the use of wire brushes causes less damage.  However, the wire bristles must mechanically impact and abrade the surface of the runway for an extended period of time and polishes the runway surface as well as causes some degradation of the grooves.

Damage Issue - Causes almost no damage to ALL types of road surfaces.

Comprehensive – Can remove ALL types of marking materials, thermoplastic, (even if it’s brand new) epoxy, paint and ALL types of tape. (3M foil backed, waffle etc.)

Versatile - Removes ALL materials from ANY road surface, no matter how uneven, porous, or grooved the surface. It is not even a challenge for the Stripe Hog® on friction coarse asphalt, grooved concrete or asphalt or even the smoothest of surfaces.
